Shingler Group Raises £1,802 For Macmillan Cancer Support

Four fearless members of staff from the Shingler Group took park in this year’s Coracle racing world championships, helping to raise valuable funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.

The world championships were held on the River Severn in Shrewsbury, with competitors coming from across the county to compete in this highly regarded and very competitive competition. 48 teams took part in the event that saw teams of 4 paddle a traditional coracle boat in a relay race on the river, with the overall winners being crowned world champions!

Our team did a fantastic job on the day of the race….and if falling in the river was the aim they would have definitely won!  All members of the team wore fancy dress and even Elvis managed an appearance, the team managed to raise an incredible  £1,802 in total for this wonderful charity.

Jeremy Shingler, Managing Director  said that everyone was delighted to have raised such a great amount for such an amazing charity and we would like to thank all our customers, suppliers and staff for their kind donations.

In 2015 the Macmillan services were accessed over 9 million times and for every £28 pound raised this will pay for a Macmillan Nurse for one hour – so every penny helps. The event in total managed to raise £38,224 for Macmillan which is fantastic, well done everyone.

Well done team!
