Energy Efficient Homes
At Shingler Group, we’re committed to improving the energy efficiency of our homes, so they are better for the planet, and your bank balance. The latest Home Builder’s Federation report has found that New build properties are increasingly more energy efficient, with 86% of new builds achieving an A or B EPC rating, compared to 5% of older properties.
The average new build home, which is rated EPC A or B, emits 2,179g of carbon per year, while older homes, typically EPC D, produce around 50% more at 3,266kg a year*
Some may debate the savings are due to new builds being smaller. However, this is not true The average newly built home is 89m2 compared with an average of 86m2 for older properties.

On average, new build homeowners will pay just over £1,574 a year to run, compared to £2,192 for those in older properties rated EPC G or F. This is a yearly saving of £618.

An astonishing 85% of new build homes achieved the highest level of energy performance (A or B rated EPC) compared to less than 5% of older properties.
Combining your Air Source Heat pump with solar panels further increases your new homes energy efficiency, contributing to lower energy bills. We will be implementing solar panels on all of our home’s developments going forward.

Shingler Homes use Air Source Heat pumps, which work by extracting heat from the outside air and moving it around your home. Air Source Heat Pumps are also more environmentally responsible.

We use high quality insulation in all of our properties. This ensures that all external elements of you new home (i.e. walls, roof and floor) lose very little heat in the winter and prevents overheating in the summer. Our insulation specification exceeds standard building regulations.
Our high-quality double-glazed windows have a 1.2 u-value (ability to retain heat) performance to improve your homes thermal efficiency. Additionally, our windows g-value (solar heat allowance) is over 40% higher than the standard regulations. The gaps between the two panes of glass aids in more effective insulation by locking in cool air during Summer and reducing heat loss over Winter.
Access holes will be placed in the plinth of our fences for hedgehogs to roam freely through our developments. This will be implemented from our Boreatton Fields (Phase 3) development and going forward.
Shingler Homes install Electric Car Chargers on their new homes developments. Every home comes fitted with a 7.4Kw Electric car charger as standard, giving you the convenience of powering your car from home.

All our Shingler Homes are tested for airtightness. The air pressure test measures how well your home manages air flow, meaning better heat insulation whilst also reducing the amount of CO2 emissions your home produces. We also use trickle vents which allows adequate ventilation throughout the property. This is turn will prevent excess air pollution and hinder any damp and mold from forming.
